🗺️ Nagoya Port Aquarium

📝 Introduction

Dolphins and orcas are leaping in Japan's largest water pool!

📖 Details

Nagoya Port Aquarium is a large aquarium composed of the North Pavilion, where you can see marine animals such as dolphins, belugas, and orcas, and the South Pavilion, which features various aquariums including live coral tanks. The main attraction of the aquarium is the dolphin shows and public training sessions for orcas held in Japan's largest water tank, which measures 60 meters wide, 30 meters deep, and 12 meters at its deepest point. In this spacious tank, visitors can observe animals swimming with incredible speed and energy, closely resembling their wild state. The dolphin shows are held 3-4 times a day, while the orca training sessions occur 2-3 times a day, so it is recommended to plan your visit accordingly. Additionally, the "Kuroshio Large Tank" on the second floor of the South Pavilion features around 35,000 sardines swirling around the fish feed thrown into the tank, creating a phenomenon known as the "Sardine Tornado," which has become a hot topic. The scales of the sardines shimmer under the lights, presenting a dreamlike scene. Moreover, the live coral tank showcasing live corals is as beautiful as a painting. It is quite rare to find an aquarium that displays about 20 species of corals, totaling up to 250 specimens. Among the popular marine life on display are sea turtles, penguins, and belugas. Some of these animals also have scheduled feeding times, which are definitely worth watching.
