In the first year of Ansei (1854), a specialty Japanese tea shop opened in Uji, a renowned region for high-quality tea in Japan. For many years, it has offered delicious teas that are not limited by shape or appearance. Among them are the exclusive blend "Nakamura Tea," which has a rich aroma but a delicate taste, the refreshing "Sencha," and the richly fragrant and sweet "Gyokuro," among various other tea leaves. In a café transformed from the tea factory building, desserts made with the signature Uji tea and matcha are available. The popular dessert "Nama Tea Jelly (Matcha)" captures the rich sweetness and aroma of high-quality tea leaves in a soft and smooth jelly, paired with low-sweetness red beans and shiratama (rice dumplings), creating an excellent texture. The "MARUTO Hyakkai (Matcha)," available exclusively at this shop, features a combination of Nama Tea Jelly, matcha Nagasaki cake, matcha ice cream, and specially made fresh cream, offering a rich variety of ingredients.
