The Awa Odori Festival in Tokushima Prefecture, which has a history of over 400 years, attracts significant attention both domestically and internationally. It is held in various locations throughout Tokushima Prefecture starting in August each year, with the earliest event taking place in Naruto City. The "Naruto Awa Odori Festival" is held for three days from August 9 to 11, centered around the streets of Naruto City. Performances take place in various areas of Naruto City. The paid viewing area (Higashi Enbujo) features an audience seating that stretches 80 meters, allowing spectators to experience the thrilling Awa Odori performances up close. In addition to local "ren" (dance teams), well-known dance teams from the largest "Tokushima City Awa Odori" also participate. There is also a "Niwaka Ren" (temporary dance team) that anyone can join, allowing attendees not only to enjoy the performances but also to participate in the dancing, creating a vibrant and joyful festival atmosphere throughout the city. In the two days leading up to the "Naruto Awa Odori," the "Naruto Summer Festival" takes place, offering a variety of activities such as "stage performances," "yoichi and markets," and "fireworks" for everyone to enjoy.

The location where the Awa Odori Festival was first held in Tokushima Prefecture. In addition to the paid performance venue located on the west side of Naruto Station, exciting Awa Odori performances can also be enjoyed for free throughout the city. Alongside the professional dance troupe "Yumeiren," there are also "Niwakaren" groups that anyone can join at any time. Two days before the Awa Odori begins, the "Naruto Summer Festival," which features a rich program including fireworks, will also be held. The use of small drones is prohibited in the venue and restricted traffic areas.
