About Ninety-Nine Islands Pearl Ocean Tour Area
Experience the sea and beautiful scenery of Kujukushima with all five senses, filled with numerous fun activities in a complex facility.
Details
The Kujukushima area is composed of a complex ria coastline and 208 islands. "Kujukushima" is a metaphorical term meaning "so many that they cannot be counted." The Kujukushima Pearl Sea Resort, located at the gateway to this area, is a comprehensive facility where visitors can take sightseeing boats, enjoy marine activities, and visit an aquarium and zoo.
The sightseeing boats range from large vessels to small ones, offering a variety of boat types that allow guests to enjoy the spectacular panoramic views of Kujukushima or observe various plants and creatures up close, providing diverse experiences. In June 2021, the catamaran "99TRITON" was launched, allowing tourists to bask in the sea breeze while enjoying beautiful scenery.
At the Kujukushima Aquarium, known as Umi Shanshan, there is an outdoor tank called the "Kujukushima Bay Large Tank," which recreates the waters of Kujukushima, and the "Kujukushima Dolphin Pool," where visitors can watch adorable dolphin performances, both of which are very popular. The "Jellyfish Symphony Hall," which is visually soothing, is also a must-see highlight.
Just a 5-minute drive from the resort area is the "Kujukushima Zoo and Botanical Garden Mori Shanshan," located on a high platform overlooking Kujukushima. Here, visitors can see animals such as lions and zebras, and the garden also features seasonal flowers in full bloom.
Highlights
The "Kujukushima Oyster Festival" is held in November and February. The Kujukushima Pirate Cruise Ship, Future, hosts a riddle-solving activity on board twice a year during spring break, Golden Week, and summer vacation. The 99TRITON offers Italian cuisine and sushi prepared by chefs right in front of the guests (reservation required). In the "Penguin House" at Morisensensu Park, there is not only a ceiling tank and a deep tank but also Japan's first ultra-shallow tank where you can see the penguins' feet. There is a free shuttle bus running between "Umi Sensensu" and "Mori Sensensu," with a travel time of about 5 minutes.
