🗺️ Nishi-Hama Coast (Aoshima)西浜海岸

Located on the western coast of Su Island, the coastline extends westward and becomes a popular beach destination every summer, filled with vacationers enjoying the seaside. The beautifully shaped coastline features a flat and wide beach that stretches about 600 meters, making it perfect for leisurely walks by the sea. When the tide goes out, visitors can observe various creatures living in the intertidal zone in the tidal pools. You can also find sea glass (artificial discarded glass that has been smoothed by the sea over time) and various shells left on the beach, so it's recommended to take your time and look around as you walk. The western coast is also the best spot on Su Island to watch the sunset. Sitting quietly on the beach, accompanied by the melodious sound of the waves, watching the sun slowly sink below the horizon is quite romantic. Additionally, the "Mashiro Hachiman Shrine" nearby the western coast features a torii gate that is another spectacular sight during sunset. The torii stands on a beach about a 20-minute walk from the western coast. The sky, painted orange by the setting sun, beautifully contrasts with the torii that appears to float on the sea, resembling a picturesque painting. During low tide, you can walk up to the torii to pay your respects. It is advisable to check the specific times of the tides before visiting the torii to plan your trip accordingly.

Along the "Seaside Coast," there are several miles of sandy beaches. The west-facing beach is a great place to watch the sunset. You can observe various creatures living in the intertidal zone at the tidal pools along the Seaside Coast. It is recommended to check the specific times of the tidal changes before visiting the torii gate at "Mashiro Hachiman Shrine."
