About Notojima Aquarium
Experience marine animals and fish up close in the aquarium famous for its whale sharks.
Details
Notojima Aquarium is famous for housing whale sharks and is the largest aquarium on the Japan Sea coast. Inside, it breeds and displays fish that inhabit and migrate in the waters near the Noto Peninsula. There are dolphin and sea lion shows, penguin walk times, snack times for the otters, and behind-the-scenes exploration activities, providing a full day of experiences.
In the massive tank "Whale Shark Pavilion: Blue World," which holds up to 1,600 tons of water, in addition to whale sharks, there are also large warm-water fish that migrate in the waters off Noto. Furthermore, in the "Noto Marine Corridor," light sculptures projected on the ceiling and floor blend with the tanks, allowing visitors to enjoy an immersive experience as if walking in the ocean.
In Japan's largest tunnel-shaped tank, "Dolphin Paradise," visitors can see dolphins and sea turtles swimming back and forth. Under natural light, the tunnel is enveloped in blue light, creating the sensation of walking underwater. The enchanting "Jellyfish Light Art" and the vividly animated "Painted Aquarium" featuring fish in a painting are also very popular. During "Penguin Walk Time," visitors can see penguins waddling along the visitor pathway.
