🗺️ Ohori Park

📝 Introduction

The water landscape park, rich in natural resources, is a favorite recreational spot for the citizens of Fukuoka.

📖 Details

Ohori Park is located in the center of Fukuoka City, just two stops away from Tenjin Station. Despite being situated in a bustling urban area, it features a large pond and rich natural scenery, making it a favorite leisure spot for locals. The park covers an area of approximately 39.8 hectares, with the large pond occupying more than half of that space. The first lord of the Fukuoka domain, Kuroda Nagamasa, used it as an outer moat when constructing Fukuoka Castle. In the middle of the pond, there are three small islands: Yanagijima, Matsushima, and Ayamejima, which can be crossed by four small bridges connecting the islands. Surrounding the pond is a 2-kilometer promenade, perfect for walking, and it is also a very popular route for jogging and cycling. Within the park, the "BOAT HOUSE OHORI PARK" is a complex facility that opened in 2015. In addition to the BOAT HOUSE, there are a café, a bakery, and a French restaurant, allowing visitors to enjoy the lakeside view while savoring delicious food. Additionally, the "Ohori Terrace," a shop and rental area that opened in 2020, has also become quite popular. Around the park, there is a Japanese garden created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the park's opening, as well as a Noh theater and the Fukuoka City Museum of Art, making it a cultural hub in Fukuoka City.

⭐ Highlights

It is recommended to rent swan boats and rowboats to enjoy the water pond in the park. At night, the eastern side of "Nakanoshima" is illuminated, creating a unique atmosphere. There are walking and jogging paths around the pond for leisurely strolls and exercise.
