The 奥津溪 (Okuzuki Valley) is located upstream of the 吉井川 (Yoshii River) in Okayama Prefecture, featuring a diverse and beautiful valley landscape that stretches approximately 3 kilometers. Along the banks of the valley, there are walking trails filled with visitors who come to admire the unique natural beauty of the area, including strange rocks, cliffs, and waterfalls, while enjoying hiking.
The natural landscape created by 奥津溪, known as the 臼渕壺穴群 (Usubuchi Pot Hole Group), is acclaimed as "the finest pot hole group in the Orient." Over hundreds of thousands of years, granite has formed multiple interconnected pot holes under the erosive force of swirling water, showcasing the magnificent power of nature.
The surrounding area is also one of the most famous spots for autumn foliage in Okayama Prefecture. Every autumn, the vibrant red leaves of maple trees, beech trees, and other species paint the valley banks in beautiful autumn colors. Additionally, in spring, visitors can enjoy fresh greenery, azaleas, and rhododendrons; in summer, lush greenery and crystal-clear streams; and in winter, snowy landscapes.
