About Okubo Park (大久保公園)
A park loved by the public as a source of sports and culture.
Details
Located very close to the bustling district of Shinjuku's Kabukichō, Ōkubo Park is part of the Kabukichō Revitalization Project, aimed at transforming Kabukichō into a town where everyone can enjoy a sense of safety. In 2010, the park underwent renovation to create a hub for cultural and sporting activities.
The goal is to generate and convey new culture from Kabukichō to invigorate the town and the surrounding area, with a variety of rich food events held throughout the year, such as a meat festival and a spicy food festival.
Covering 3,300 square meters, the park is well-maintained and divided into areas for general use and sports. Although there are no playgrounds, the sports area includes free-to-use basketball and soccer fields. Furthermore, in 2022, the sports field underwent renovation, resulting in the creation of an artistic basketball court designed with geometric patterns.
