About Omagari Lakeside Park
The spectacular sunflower fields stretch from summer to autumn! A large tourist farm covering an area of 80 hectares.
Details
The early Abashiri Prison farm was renovated and transformed into a tourist farm in 2006. Covering an area of 80 hectares, it features crops such as corn, asparagus, and tomatoes, allowing visitors to experience the joy of harvesting.
The biggest highlight of the farm is the sunflower fields that bloom from summer to autumn. From early to mid-July each year, around 750,000 sunflowers enter their first blooming period. The second blooming period occurs from late September to early October, with 2.6 million sunflowers competing to bloom. The stunning scene of the fields bathed in bright yellow is truly spectacular.
The second sunflower blooming period coincides with the comfortable autumn season, making it a perfect time to enjoy leisurely walks among the sunflower fields. Additionally, this period is also the peak blooming time for cosmos flowers, allowing visitors to appreciate two beautiful flower fields at once.
Strolling amidst the colorful array of flowers is undoubtedly one of the most healing moments.
Highlights
The tourist farm, covering an area of 80 hectares, also offers activities for harvesting vegetables. The biggest highlight is the bright yellow sunflower fields. The blooming season occurs twice: from early to mid-July and from late September to early October. During the second sunflower blooming period, visitors can also enjoy the Persian flower fields at the same time.
