Osaka Castle Park is a vast historical park centered around the nationally designated special historic site "Osaka Castle Ruins." The well-maintained park is home to many important historical and cultural properties, including the "Osaka Castle Tenshu" and a total of 13 buildings such as turrets and castle gates built from the early to late Edo period. Covering an area of 105.6 hectares, it serves as an urban oasis for the people of Osaka, featuring public facilities like multi-purpose sports fields, baseball fields, and a concert hall for music events, in addition to the Osaka Castle Tenshu. At the center of the park, the Osaka Castle Tenshu houses a museum that displays items and valuable materials related to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who built Osaka Castle and achieved the unification of Japan. From the observatory on the 8th floor, 50 meters above ground, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Osaka city. The park also includes the complex facility "JO-TERRACE OSAKA," the "Osaka Castle Hall" for large-scale concerts and events, and the "Osaka Castle Music Hall" where outdoor music can be enjoyed. In 2019, the theater "COOL JAPAN PARK OSAKA" was newly constructed for performances, making this area a hub not just for leisure but also for entertainment activities. Additionally, Osaka Castle Park is one of the top cherry blossom viewing spots in the Kansai region, with around 3,000 cherry trees blooming in spring, painting the park pink. Among them, the "Nishinomaru Garden" features about 300 cherry trees primarily of the Somei Yoshino variety, creating a dreamlike scene of illuminated night cherry blossoms during the nighttime lighting period, which is a must-see spectacle when visiting Osaka in spring. In March 2021, the park's walking path "Osaka Castle RUN & WALK COURSE" was renovated. New guide maps and path signage were added, allowing visitors to stroll more comfortably within Osaka Castle Park. They can enjoy the view of the Osaka Castle Tenshu and various important historical sites while experiencing the natural scenery and fresh air of the four seasons.
