📝 Introduction

The origin shop of Kofu's soul food "Braised Chicken Innards."

📖 Details

Otonohonten was established in 1913 and is a well-known restaurant where you can enjoy handmade soba noodles and various local delicacies from Kofu. It is famous as the origin of the highly regarded local dish "Kofu-style stewed chicken offal." Unlike the typical method of stewing offal, Kofu-style chicken offal is prepared by simmering chicken liver, heart, gizzard, and "tampopo" (uncovered egg yolk) in a sweet and spicy sauce made from sugar and soy sauce. This dish is perfect as a side for rice or as a snack with drinks. Complementing Kofu-style chicken offal are shochu and sake made from the spring water of Mount Fuji, as well as locally produced wines from Kofu, all of which pair excellently. At Otonohonten, you can sample a variety of local sake from Yamanashi Prefecture. Another popular dish at Otonohonten is the handmade soba noodles, enjoyed with a carefully brewed broth and a dipping sauce that harmonizes with the soup base. The flavor of the broth enhances the refreshing taste of the soup base, and when paired with fresh wasabi produced in Ashikawa, the soba becomes even more delicious. Additionally, the specially made Shingen pudding, steamed in-house and drizzled with brown sugar and soybean flour, is also incredibly tasty and a must-try dessert after your meal.
