The hot springs from the "Oyunuma," a volcanic crater formed during the eruption of Mount Hiyoriyama, flow into the river, turning the entire river into a natural hot spring.
Along the riverbank, wooden benches are set up for visitors to relax and enjoy the foot bath. The river appears milky white, surrounded by the distinctive sulfur scent of the hot springs. Each spot has a different temperature, allowing you to find your ideal warmth.
The seasonal scenery is also a highlight. In spring and summer, you can enjoy fresh greenery; in autumn, the vibrant colors of the leaves; and in winter, the beautiful snow landscape. You can take in the stunning views of nature while enjoying the authentic hot springs.
The representative sightseeing spot in Noboribetsu, "Jigokudani" (Hell Valley), is about a 45-minute walk (the winter trail may be closed). The unique landscape of steaming hot springs at "Jigokudani" is also recommended for a visit.
