📝 Introduction

Enjoy the original omurice in a Showa-era Japanese building, a Western-style restaurant that has been in operation for over a century.

📖 Details

Established in 1922, this Western-style restaurant, renowned as the birthplace of omurice (omelette rice), has a history of over a century. The store, built in the Sukiya style, is a pure Japanese architectural structure from 1950, allowing guests to enjoy traditional omurice amidst the beautiful scenery of a Japanese garden. The creator of omurice is the founder, Shigeo Kitahashi. It is said that he specially devised the dish of fried rice wrapped in an omelette for a regular customer who had poor stomach function and only ordered an omelette and plain rice. This dish later gained widespread popularity and was officially added to the restaurant's menu, becoming a classic establishment known to everyone in Osaka's Western-style dining scene. The chicken omurice is paired with a homemade tomato sauce, appearing simple yet rich in flavor. The shiitake mushroom omurice and beef omurice are also classic dishes, along with creative options like braised beef omurice and pork cutlet curry omurice, offering a wide variety of choices. For an additional 660 yen, you can upgrade to a set meal that includes your choice of omurice, fried shrimp, and miso soup. The side dish, karaage (fried chicken), uses chicken thigh meat without garlic or ginger, making it light and easy to eat, and is another hidden gem of the restaurant.
