🗺️ Poroto Forestポロトの森

"POROTO no Mori" is located near the city of Shiraoi in Hokkaido, and it is a natural recreation forest surrounded by "POROTO Lake." There is a 6-kilometer walking path along the lakeshore, where visitors can walk or bike amidst the pleasant scenery of all four seasons. Various water activities such as canoeing, SUP, and fishing are also available on POROTO Lake. Within POROTO no Mori, there are multiple trails. In addition to the loop around the lake, there are routes leading to the scenic viewpoint called "Bōgaku-dai," as well as a route that passes through the beautiful maple leaf area known for its stunning autumn foliage. From Bōgaku-dai, one can enjoy a distant view of mountains such as "Tarumae-yama," "Horohoro-yama," and "Shiraoi-dake," along with the magnificent Pacific Ocean. The forest is home to wetland herbaceous plants like water butterbur, and wildlife such as Ezo deer, northern foxes, and Ezo flying squirrels can also be found here. There are camping sites and log cabins available for accommodation within the forest. The camping area features free camping spots that can accommodate up to a hundred tents, along with five log cabins. The operational period is from April 1 to November 30, and reservations are required in advance.

Surrounding "POROTO Lake" is a nature-rich recreational forest. There are several walking trails within the forest. The lake offers outdoor water activities such as canoeing and SUP. There are camping sites and cabins available for accommodation (reservation required).
