Puyuni Cape, located on the northern coast of the Shiretoko Peninsula, means "place with a hole" in the Ainu language, named for its shape resembling a hole. It is not only part of the world natural heritage site "Shiretoko," but the view from the cape is also selected as one of the "Eight Views of Shiretoko." You can enjoy this captivating scenery from the viewpoints along National Route 334. From here, you can take in the breathtaking views of the Utoro coastline, Utoro Port, Oronko Rock, and the Sea of Okhotsk. It is also a famous sunset viewing spot, attracting numerous travelers year-round who come specifically to admire the beautiful scenery. The area is also the first place to see drifting ice, and the winter landscape covered in drift ice on the Sea of Okhotsk is not to be missed. There are many "drift ice walking" activities available for those interested in walking on the ice. Additionally, in summer, you can take a sightseeing boat to view Puyuni Cape from the sea.
