About Sakura Village (Shizuoka Prefecture)

From September to May each year, you can enjoy cherry blossoms at this famous cherry blossom viewing spot in the Izu Peninsula.

Details

Sakura no Sato is located at the foot of "Omuroyama," which symbolizes the Ito area in Shizuoka Prefecture. As its name suggests, it features a thousand cherry blossom trees planted over an area of 40,000 square meters, making it one of the most beautiful cherry blossom viewing spots on the Izu Peninsula. There are as many as 40 varieties of cherry blossoms, and they bloom from late September to May of the following year, making it a rare location where cherry blossoms can be enjoyed for more than half of the year. The blooming starts with寒櫻 (kanzakura) in December, followed by河津桜 (kawazu zakura) from February to March, and then大島桜 (oshima zakura),城崎桜 (kinosaki zakura), and伊東桜 (ito zakura) in early March. The best viewing period for染井吉野 (somei yoshino) is from late March to early April, during which the park also hosts events and night illuminations. Following that,八重桜 (yaezakura) and the autumn-blooming十月桜 (juugatsu zakura) continue to bloom, creating a beautiful contrast with the bowl-shaped Omuroyama. Additionally, this is the best spot to view the annual Omuroyama Burning Mountain event held in mid-February. The park features DOGLAND, which is popular for allowing visitors to enjoy the blossoms with their dogs. Nearby, the Omuroyama ropeway accommodates small dogs, making it a recommended stop for dog lovers.
