In Japan, a small theater that showcases traditional performances like 落語 (Rakugo) is called a "寄席" (Yose), and Shinjuku Suehirotei is one of them. The Japanese-style wooden building exudes a strong historical atmosphere, with lanterns hanging on the exterior and rows of wooden plaques displaying the names of the 落語家 (Rakugoka). Audiences can enjoy traditional Japanese arts such as 落語, 漫才 (Manzai), and 講談 (Kōdan) up close in a space filled with Japanese charm. Although both 落語 and 漫才 are performed in Japanese, the theater also features various performances including magic shows, acrobatics, and folk songs and pop music performed while playing the 三味線 (Shamisen), allowing everyone to enjoy the experience even if they don't understand the language. The small theater has both tatami seating and chair seating, with all seats available on a first-come, first-served basis. There are also second-floor seats that overlook the stage. Inside the venue, there is a shop where you can purchase traditional Japanese-style merchandise such as fans and towels.
