About Shosenkyo Gorge
Known as "Japan's Most Beautiful Valley," it is a nationally designated special scenic area.
Details
Shosenkyo Gorge, located in the northern part of Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, is known as "Japan's most beautiful gorge." Here, you can admire granite cliffs, unique rock formations, and clear, abundant streams that have been shaped by the passage of time.
There are walking paths along the gorge, allowing visitors to leisurely stroll and enjoy the beauty of the seasons. The main peak, "Kakuen Peak," and the "Sengyo Falls," which has a height difference of 30 meters, are the most popular photo spots.
Additionally, there are several attractions worth exploring, such as the breathtaking "Ishimon" and the "Chotan Bridge," which is the oldest existing cement arch bridge in Yamanashi Prefecture.
If you take the Shosenkyo Ropeway to the observation deck, you can also enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of Mount Fuji, Kitadake, and the Minami Alps mountain range.
Highlights
Starting from the trail set along the creek valley, you can see many uniquely named strange rocks along the way. You can choose a suitable route based on the time required or your personal fitness level. For the slippery rocky paths, please wear non-slip shoes. The panoramic view from the top of the昇仙峡 (Shōsenkyō) cable car is truly spectacular.
