About Spring Flower Garden Bonsai Art Museum
The bonsai museum established by world-class bonsai artist Kobayashi Kunio.
Details
Located in Edogawa, Tokyo, this bonsai museum was established by bonsai artist Kunio Kobayashi, who promotes and preserves bonsai culture both domestically and internationally. The museum is nestled in a quiet residential area, allowing visitors to explore the charm of bonsai in a serene atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle.
The bonsai collection is housed within a Japanese garden and a sukiya-style building, featuring over 1,000 bonsai specimens. Some of the rare pieces have tree ages exceeding 1,000 years, making them well worth a visit. Visitors can freely admire the bonsai in the garden, and after the tour, they can enjoy tea while gazing at the beautiful garden that changes with the seasons.
The museum also offers bonsai experiences for beginners, as well as bonsai classes personally guided by Mr. Kobayashi. Participating in the bonsai creation experience is quite easy, taking about an hour and costing 8,000 yen per person (including admission fee, advance reservation required). In addition, there are activities such as kimono-wearing experiences and tea ceremonies, which are especially popular among foreign tourists looking to experience Japanese culture.
