About Stamp Museum
A collection of 350,000 types of stamps from Japan and countries around the world!
Details
Located in Toshima, Tokyo, this museum specializes in collecting stamps and features rare stamps from around the world. It houses approximately 350,000 types of stamps from Japan and various countries, along with about 15,000 envelopes.
The exhibition room on the first floor changes its content every three months, focusing on themes related to "flowers" or "living beings," showcasing around 1,000 stamps from different countries each time. Enlarged images of the stamps are placed on maps of Japan and the world, making it easy to identify which country the stamps are from. The exhibition room on the third floor also hosts special exhibitions. The library on the second floor contains about 13,000 books related to stamps and postal services, as well as 2,000 magazines and auction magazines, available for free browsing (some require payment).
On the third Sunday of each month, there is an activity for creating collages using old stamps. Over a hundred types of old stamps are available for creative collage-making, and completed collages can be taken home.
The shop on the first floor offers souvenirs for purchase. Entry to the shop is free, and it sells world stamps and stamp frames. In the paid area of the souvenir section, various original products and postal-related items from around the world are available. A recommended item is the "self-portrait stamp-style postcard," which can be made using a selfie as a memento of your visit.
