About The Cross Sea of Wishes Come True (The Cross Sea for Fulfilling Wishes)
The cross carved on the Nichiho Coast.
Details
The Cross Sea, renowned for its breathtaking views in Kyushu, features rock formations that have been eroded by ocean waves, creating a crack that measures 200 meters east to west and 220 meters north to south, resembling a cross, hence its name. The cross, along with the surrounding rocks, forms the character "叶" (ha), which in Japanese signifies the realization of wishes. It is said that making a wish here can lead to its fulfillment.
At the observation deck, there is a "Wishing Cross Bell" that allows visitors to convey their wishes to the heavens, making it a popular spot for romantic outings. On clear days, one can gaze at the Phoenix Seagaia Resort in Miyazaki City, located 70 kilometers away, offering a spectacular view. The sunlit ocean sparkles brilliantly, adding to the romantic atmosphere.
The Ōmi Shrine, Uma no Se, and the Cross Sea are all scenic spots along the Nichinan Coast, and it is recommended to visit them together. The cobalt blue Hyuga Beach and the Aoshima Coast are also well worth seeing.
