About THE SEIKO MUSEUM Ginza
Located in Ginza, the birthplace of Seiko, there is a museum that introduces the history of time and watches.
Details
THE SEIKO MUSEUM in Ginza introduces the history of Seiko, a representative of Japan's long-established watch manufacturers, and also provides insights into the history of time and timepieces. In 2020, to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the birth of Seiko's founder, Kintaro Hattori, the museum relocated from Higashiyokoyama in Sumida Ward to Ginza, the site of the company's founding, and underwent a complete renovation.
At the entrance of the building facing Namiki Street, there is a large pendulum clock called "Rondeau La Tour," featuring a pendulum that measures 4.6 meters in length and multiple gears. The museum, which spans from the basement level to the fifth floor, showcases over 500 pieces of Seiko products from various eras, including sundials, pendulum clocks, mechanical clocks, and more. The exhibitions on the six floors are categorized by themes such as "Exquisite Time" and "Ultimate Time."
On the first floor, the museum shop sells a variety of original products designed based on the collection of THE SEIKO MUSEUM, all available exclusively at the museum. Located at the intersection of Ginza 4-chome, near the iconic clock tower "SEIKO HOUSE GINZA" and the "Seiko Dream Square," which sells Seiko brand products, it is a must-visit destination for watch enthusiasts.
