🗺️ Toga Meditation Village

📝 Introduction

In a healing space, refreshing both body and mind has become a highly regarded energy spot in recent years.

📖 Details

Known as "Sky Village," this mysterious place stands atop the mountains of Kamihata in Toga Village. Centered around the dynamic garden "Flower Mandala," it features a meditation hall adorned with a massive mandala and Buddhist paintings created by monks from Nepal, as well as exhibition spaces and accommodation facilities. Various activities such as yoga and meditation are held periodically, allowing visitors to refresh their body and mind. The "Meditation Hall" symbolizes the friendship between Tukuche Village in Nepal and Toga Village, and was constructed in 1991. Monks were invited from Tukuche Village, and it took about a year and a half to paint a 4-meter square giant mandala and Buddhist artworks. It is said that the two pieces that form a pair, the "Silent Wrathful Hundred Deities Mandala," represent the state of mind during the 49 days from death to rebirth. The "Eleven-Headed Thousand-Handed Thousand-Eyed Kannon" painting features Amida Buddha and Kannon Bodhisattva. Other exhibits include Tibetan Buddhist statues, Indian sculptures, and costumes and masks used in Buddhist dance. Additionally, the exhibition hall "Meditation Hall of Beauty," completed in 1995, compares the Tibetan and Japanese versions of the Two Realms Mandala. Restorations of the 15th-century mandalas, "Vajra Realm Mandala and Womb Realm Mandala," are also displayed within the hall.
