Opened in 1990, the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre is a multi-cultural facility built with the aim of promoting arts and culture as well as international exchange. It hosts a variety of stage performances, including music, drama, musicals, and dance. Designed by the renowned Japanese architect Yoshinobu Ashihara, its distinctive exterior has become a well-known landmark in Nishi-Ikebukuro.

At the front of the stage is the world's largest revolving pipe organ, providing unique and high-quality performances.
Additionally, there is a medium-sized performance space called the "Playhouse" for drama, musicals, and dance, along with two smaller performance halls, Theatre East and Theatre West, making a total of four performance spaces.
Apart from the performance halls, there are also exhibition rooms, rehearsal rooms, and conference rooms available for hosting exhibitions, lectures, or workshops.
