The Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, which opened in 1995, is located in the complex facility "Ebisu Garden Place" and is Japan's first museum dedicated primarily to photography and visual media. The exhibitions focus on both collection displays and special exhibitions, showcasing numerous photographic and visual works from Japan and abroad across three exhibition halls and a lobby.
The museum boasts over 37,000 items in its collection, systematically covering works from the early days of photography and visual media to the latest creations by contemporary artists. The collection exhibition "TOP COLLECTION" features works selected by curators from the rich holdings based on themes, complemented by approximately 15 special exhibitions held each year.
Additionally, the first-floor lobby screens visual works themed "Art & Human." Short films and documentaries are shown according to different periods, introducing many high-quality works through various projects and perspectives. The museum also includes a museum shop, a café, and a library that houses photography books and literature related to the history of photography.
