About Tokyo Takarazuka Theater

A hub for the glamorous Takarazuka Revue performances in Tokyo.

Details

The Takarazuka Revue, based in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture, established a performance venue in Tokyo in 1934. It underwent renovations in 1998 and reopened on January 1, 2001, at the beginning of the 21st century. The grand red carpet at the entrance and the dazzling chandelier create an entrance that leads the audience into a dreamlike world, presenting a special space distinct from everyday life. With a seating capacity of up to 2,079, the venue is designed with a double-layer structure and staggered seating arrangements to ensure that every seat has a clear view of the stage. Furthermore, it features the same stage system as the Takarazuka Grand Theater, showcasing the Takarazuka Revue's powerful stage effects. The Takarazuka Revue Company consists of five troupes: Hana (Flower), Tsuki (Moon), Yuki (Snow), Hoshi (Star), and Sora (Sky), along with a specialized group that does not belong to a specific troupe. Throughout the year, performances are held at the Takarazuka Grand Theater (Hyogo Prefecture) and the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater (Tokyo), both dedicated theaters. The powerful live orchestra unique to the dedicated theaters and the state-of-the-art stage systems create a splendid and dreamlike stage effect.

Highlights

Completed in 1934, it serves as the performance base for the Takarazuka Revue in Tokyo. Among urban theaters with convenient transportation, it has the largest seating capacity. In Tokyo, audiences can enjoy performances similar to those at the Takarazuka Grand Theater. The flower path (Ginhashi) and grand staircase, which are close to the audience seats, are unique stage features of this dedicated theater.
