About Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art
A museum where you can experience the charm of art and design.
Details
You can see the Tateyama mountain range, integrated into the beautiful scenery of the Fugan Canal Kansui Park, where the art museum is located. It showcases works by artists from Japan and abroad, including Picasso, Miró, Chagall, and Tsuguharu Fujita, from the early 20th century to the present.
There are also design exhibition rooms featuring posters, chairs, and more, as well as interactive touch panels for experiencing the collection of posters, artist studios, and participatory workshops for public creation, providing many facilities and activities that familiarize people with art and design. Various special exhibitions related to art and design are also held.
Inside the museum, there are restaurants, cafes, shops, and a children's library that collects 350 picture books. The rooftop garden "ONOMATOBE no Yane" is also very popular with families. "ONOMATOBE" is an onomatopoeia derived from "GURUGUR" and "HISOHISO," created by designer Taku Satō, featuring a spacious playground equipped with unique play equipment born from ONOMATOBE.
