🍜 Tsuda House
🎨 Restaurant Gallery
📝 Introduction
Standing on Hanami-koji Street, experience the luxurious boutiques of Kyoto with all five senses.
📖 Details
Founded during the late Edo period, the tea house later relocated to its current site in the early Taisho era. It retains the luxurious decor unique to tea houses and has now transformed into a restaurant and bar where guests can enjoy seasonal kaiseki cuisine and fine sake.
The spacious dance area is specially designed for appreciating the performances of geisha and maiko, featuring a railing painted with the Thirty-Six Peaks of Higashiyama, showcasing the delicate hospitality of Gion throughout the space. Just being in this environment allows one to experience a sense of luxury.
During lunchtime, there is a "Lunch Special" made with seasonal ingredients, allowing guests to savor the essence of Tsudaro. Evening reservations are required, and guests can enjoy a relaxing time accompanied by the background music of shamisen and shakuhachi played on the first floor (performance times depend on the performers). The evening set menu offers a chef's recommended course made with carefully selected seasonal ingredients, with four options available. Additionally, dishes are served on exquisite tableware from the Meiji to Taisho periods, such as those by Sakai Ikkemon and Imaizumi Imoemon, showcasing the essence of seasonal ingredients, which is a unique feature of Tsudaro.
The bar area, made from a single piece of beech wood, is also quite popular for enjoying wine or sake during Bar Time. It offers a selection of pairings that best complement the food.
