The Railway Museum located in Oya, Tsuyama City, in the northern part of Okayama Prefecture showcases the "Old Tsuyama Roundhouse," which is the second largest existing roundhouse for locomotives in Japan, along with various materials related to the collection of vehicles.
The "Historical Development Zone (あゆみルーム)" focuses on the history of Okayama Railways, introducing the origins of Japanese railways up to the present day, combined with events that occurred at that time. The "Structural Principles Zone (しくみルーム)" allows visitors to understand how safe, comfortable, and accurate train operations are achieved, and introduces railway technology and adaptability through experiential equipment. The "Townscape Zone (まちなみルーム)" recreates the scenery of Tsuyama town in a three-dimensional model, including the Old Tsuyama Roundhouse, with railway model trains running through it.
Inside the "Old Tsuyama Roundhouse," visitors can see a total of 13 trains, including the Kiha 33 type diesel car, and a turntable used to change the direction of trains, making it a must-visit spot for railway and locomotive enthusiasts.
