🗺️ Underwater Road (Okinawa)

The approximately 5-kilometer free road connects the Katsuren Peninsula on Okinawa Island with Henza Island. Although it is named "Umikyu Road," it is actually built on a breakwater in shallow waters. Enjoy the thrill of driving while gazing at the cobalt blue sea beside you. Henza Island is also connected by bridges to Miyagi Island, Hamahiga Island, and Ikei Island, making it a popular driving route. Located in the middle of the road, the "Umi no Eki AYAHASHI-kan" features a restaurant and restrooms, making it a suitable rest stop. The first floor sells specialty products from Uruma City and Okinawa. The second floor, "Umi no Bunka Shiryokan," showcases wooden ship models used in early trade and related shipbuilding materials. Additionally, the beach near the rest stop offers water activities like windsurfing and barbecuing, attracting large crowds of tourists every weekend. The pedestrian bridge spanning the road is the best viewpoint for enjoying the beautiful nature. At night, the illuminated Henza Bridge creates a mysterious atmosphere, making it well worth a visit.
