🗺️ U.S. Military Dormitory Johnson Town

📝 Introduction

A village in America filled with white bungalows in American style.

📖 Details

Located along National Route 463 in Iruma City, Saitama Prefecture, Johnson Town features many American-style white bungalow buildings, giving it the feel of a suburban neighborhood in the United States. Some of the residences have been transformed into restaurants, cafes, and unique lifestyle or furniture shops, allowing general visitors to dine and shop while enjoying the town's atmosphere. Nearby Johnson Town is the Air Self-Defense Force base, which was formerly the Johnson Base where the U.S. military was stationed. This area used to be the U.S. military dormitories. The houses, characterized by white walls and concrete tile roofs, are known as "U.S. military housing." With wooden platforms and understated entrances, both the exterior and interior were designed to cater to the American lifestyle. The aging U.S. military houses have now been restored, including newly built "Heisei houses" that match the local atmosphere, with a total of 120 houses available for rent as residences or shops. Regardless, please remember that this is a residential area, and be mindful not to disturb the local residents while visiting.
