🗺️ Yoga Mountain Garden (Formerly the Nanto Villa Garden of the Yamaguchi Family)瑜伽山園地（旧山口氏南都別邸庭園）

Located at the southern end of Nara Park, the garden south of Ukimido and Sagi Pond covers an area of approximately 1.3 hectares. In 1927, it was designated as an additional item of the nationally designated cultural property "Scenic Nara Park," as a scenic spot that integrates the landscapes of Yagiyama, Sagi Pond, and others. This land was originally the villa of Yamaguchi Kichirōbei, who was active in the Osaka business community during the Meiji to Taisho periods, and it retains historical significance as a place that promoted the exchange of literary figures. The garden within the area is a representative modern garden of Nara Park, which was restored and renovated by the prefectural government and opened to the public in 2020. There is a cleverly constructed path that utilizes the undulating terrain of Yagiyama, allowing visitors to leisurely stroll through the garden's varied elevations. From the high ground, one can overlook symbolic landscapes of Nara such as Wakakusa-yama and Hinoharano, providing a unique pleasure in recalling the literary figures who once gazed upon this scenery. Additionally, there is a tea room that recreates the one built by Yamaguchi Kichirōbei, which can be used for meetings or tea ceremonies (reservation required, fee applies). Furthermore, the garden is equipped with comprehensive accommodation and dining facilities.
