About Abukuma Cave
Appreciating the beauty shaped over the years by dripping water brings endless inspiration!
Details
The Abukuma Cave, located in Fukushima Prefecture, is a limestone cave that stretches 600 meters in length and is said to be around 80 million years old. Inside the cave, there are numerous and diverse types of stalactites. Abukuma Cave features many attractions worth seeing, including the fantastical "Moon World," which is Japan's first limestone cave to introduce stage lighting systems, and the "Dragon Palace," a cave filled with unique stalactites that reach up to 13 meters in height. In the "Takine Goten," the largest hall in Abukuma Cave at 29 meters high, visitors can closely observe the crystal curtains, cave corals, and other precious stalactites that can only be seen here.
A typical visit takes about 30 minutes, but there is also an adventurous "Exploration Course" available. This course allows visitors to cross wooden ladders and stepping stones, squeezing through narrow spaces to enjoy the feeling of being an adventurer.
Additionally, the gift shop offers original products such as red wine and natural water coffee stored within the cave, as well as local specialties from Tamura City. The attached dining area also serves "Red Wine Salt Ramen" and "Fukushima Eel Rice Bowl Set" (available in limited quantities each day).
