About Akigawa Valley

Just a one-hour drive from downtown Tokyo, a lush green valley.

Details

The Akigawa Valley stretches approximately 20 kilometers from Akiruno City in Tokyo to Hibara Village. The lush nature is hard to believe, considering it's only a one-hour drive from central Tokyo, making it an easily accessible natural attraction. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking mountain scenery throughout the seasons, including fresh greenery in spring, vibrant autumn leaves, and it is also a popular spot for outdoor activities such as barbecuing and camping. There are several walking trails in the area that allow you to enjoy the stunning views of the valley. In spring, you can see cherry blossoms and azaleas; in summer, hydrangeas and fresh greenery; and in autumn, the beautiful fall foliage. Among these, the "Ishibune Bridge," which frames the mountains and water, is a highly favored spot for sightseeing and photography. If you're looking to enjoy outdoor activities in nature, there are various options such as barbecuing, camping, and fishing for sweetfish. Compared to other areas, Akigawa has more shallow spots, providing many places to play in the water. Some facilities offer barbecue equipment for rent, allowing you to enjoy a fun barbecue without needing to bring anything.
