📜 Content

Akita STATION is located on the first floor of the complex facility "Area Nakaichi," which houses the Akita Prefectural Museum of Art. It is a place where you can see Akita dogs, operated by the nonprofit organization "ONE FOR AKITA," dedicated to the protection of Akita dogs. To ensure the health of the Akita dogs, direct petting is not allowed, but visitors can take photos and purchase many original Akita dog merchandise. Akita dogs have become increasingly popular due to their admiration from world celebrities, but the number of purebred Akita dogs is declining due to issues such as genetic deterioration and the aging of breeders. Therefore, a portion of the proceeds from the souvenirs sold at Akita STATION is invested in Akita dog protection activities. While enjoying the adorable behavior of the Akita dogs, visitors can also learn about various issues related to the survival crisis facing Akita dogs.
