📝 Introduction
Enjoy the hot spring tour and stroll through the town, with its uniquely charming hot spring street.
📖 Details
In 1883, after the accidental discovery of hot springs, the area developed into a hot spring town known as "Kansai's Hidden Retreat," beloved by many literary figures. Asohara Onsen boasts 74 hot spring sources, with each facility having its own source, allowing visitors to enjoy various mineral compositions and effects. Every April, a spring festival is held, and in August, the Aso Hot Water Splash Festival takes place. In winter, the hot spring town is adorned with numerous bamboo lanterns during the "Aso Lantern Village," making the rich seasonal activities a must-see.
Surrounded by picturesque rural scenery, the hot spring town features about 20 ryokans (traditional Japanese inns). These accommodations offer impressive amenities such as garden outdoor baths or rooms with outdoor baths. Many also focus on delicious cuisine made from seasonal local ingredients. Visitors can choose from simple lodgings centered around hot spring therapy to high-end hotels, depending on their preferences and needs.
Additionally, in front of the Echizen Railway Asohara Onsen Station, there is "Aso-yu," where travelers can enjoy a free foot bath with two types of hot spring water, which is very popular among visitors. In the food street "Yuyake Yokocho," there are many traditional stalls offering seafood dishes, skewers, grilled meat, ramen, and more, creating a nostalgic retro atmosphere.
