The Benesse House Museum opened in 1992 and is a facility that combines a museum and a hotel. Based on the concept of "the coexistence of nature, architecture, and art," artworks are not only displayed in exhibition spaces but are also scattered throughout the museum and the surrounding coastline and forests. Designed by Tadao Ando, the museum is situated on a high ground overlooking the Seto Inland Sea, featuring large floor-to-ceiling windows on the seaside walls that bring the island's beautiful scenery indoors.
