About Beppu Rakutenchi
A retro amusement park with attractions and interactions with small animals, where three generations can enjoy themselves to the fullest.
Details
Opened in 1929 (Showa 4), it is one of the oldest amusement parks in Kyushu, beloved by three generations of visitors and a nostalgic spot for the citizens of Beppu.
The variety of attractions is quite extensive, featuring Japan's only double-decker Ferris wheel, the "Hana no Ferris Wheel," a carousel that immerses visitors in a fairy tale atmosphere, and a roller coaster that zooms through the forest with a track length of about 470 meters. There are also go-karts making a comeback after 20 years. In "Carnival Town," there are various rides and table hockey that preschool children can enjoy with adult supervision, ensuring fun for visitors of all ages.
The animal area houses over 20 small animals, including capybaras and penguins. The "Duck Race," a long-standing signature event, features eight ducks that start simultaneously on the command of "Ready, Set, Go!" allowing visitors to guess which duck will win. Those who correctly guess the winning duck can receive a commemorative prize. Additionally, the "Animal Paradise," where visitors can happily interact with rabbits, sheep, and chicks, is also very popular.
With an amusement park ticket, visitors can enjoy free access to the one-day hot spring facility "Zekkei no Yu," and the relaxing "Ashiyu" foot bath. The "Onsen Yuzuki Paradise," open only in the summer, offers various fun and thrilling attractions like water slides and water guns. There is also a barbecue area (reservation required), where guests can enjoy grilled meat while taking in the beautiful views of Beppu Bay, providing a rich and diverse experience.
