About Bise Fukugi Forest Path
A traditional forest path filled with Ryukyu charm, where you can enjoy the pleasure of walking in a southern atmosphere.
Details
The traditional village area of Bise, arranged in a checkerboard pattern, features the lush green forest path that is about a 5-minute drive from the "Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium" located in "Ocean Expo Park." The approximately 1-kilometer-long path is lined with thousands of Fukugi trees, standing 10 to 20 meters tall, creating a strong Ryukyu atmosphere.
The "Fukugi" trees symbolize the attraction of good fortune and have been valued since ancient times, also serving as windbreaks. Today, the village still has 250 households, and within the densely growing Fukugi forest, there are ancient trees estimated to be around 300 years old.
Under the dense shade formed by the overlapping branches and leaves, tranquil moments flow, making it perfect for enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of the southern islands while taking a leisurely stroll. Nearby shops offer services for riding water buffalo carts along the path, and you can also rent bicycles or scooters to fully enjoy various recreational activities.
At the entrance of the forest path, the "Couple Fukugi" is a must-visit energy spot where you can pray for a happy marriage and attract good fortune.
