🍜 Chalet Mizunohama

📝 Introduction

A stunning café located by Lake Biwa, where you can have close encounters with waterfowl.

📖 Details

Walking along the shores of Lake Biwa from the Biwako Ohashi Bridge towards Hikone City, you will come across a wooden cabin surrounded by a vibrant array of flowers. This spot is a favorite resting place for self-driving travelers and has recently gained attention for its stunning views, known as the café "Chalet水之濱" (Chalet Mizunohama). From the terrace seating, you can enjoy an unbeatable view of the vast Lake Biwa below, giving you the sensation of floating on the lake's surface. Here, you can also admire seasonal sights such as cherry blossoms in spring, hydrangeas in summer, and autumn leaves in fall, each offering a different landscape throughout the year. The café serves beef curry, Turkish fried rice, and wild vegetable pasta during lunch hours; in the afternoon tea time, they offer chiffon cake, cheesecake, chocolate cake, pound cake, and other dishes. All meals and desserts are handmade, allowing you to savor dishes made from locally sourced seasonal ingredients. Just a short walk down the stairs beside the café leads you to a wide beach where you can get close to ducks and seagulls. The café sells bird feed, so you can enjoy the soothing experience of being surrounded by waterfowl while waiting for your table or after your meal. Additionally, visiting during sunset is highly recommended, as you can spend a leisurely and relaxing time on the terrace seating.
