Chiba Port Tower, built in 1986 to commemorate Chiba Prefecture's population surpassing 5 million, is a landmark tower standing at 125 meters tall. The tower features an observation deck, a restaurant, and a souvenir shop. At the top of the tower, a 15-ton damper was installed to counteract shaking impacts, marking Japan's first attempt at such a feature. In addition to the viewing level, the tower is characterized by its exterior covered with over 5,000 pieces of heat-reflective glass that act as semi-transparent mirrors. These mirrors reflect the surrounding scenery, capturing the movement of the sun and clouds, and change appearance with varying weather and times of day. From the observation deck, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view of Tokyo Bay, and on clear days, even catch sight of Mount Fuji. The tower is also famous for offering stunning views of the twinkling factory lights at night, and in 2011, it was designated as a "Lover's Sanctuary," followed by recognition as a "Japan Night View Heritage" in 2012, making it a very popular date spot. Additionally, during Christmas, there is a giant Christmas tree, recognized by the Guinness World Records as the "World's Largest Christmas Tree," beautifully decorated with colorful lights, reflecting on the tower's surface, making it one of Chiba's winter highlights.

The tower is equipped with shock absorbers that can absorb the energy generated by vibrations, and it is designed to withstand wind speeds of 60 meters per second and tremors of intensity 7. A guided tour lasting 15 to 20 minutes is available, showcasing various port facilities visible from the tower (reservation required 10 days in advance). The lighting ceremony for the "World's Largest Christmas Tree," which is registered in the Guinness World Records, takes place every year from late November until December 25, lasting about a month. For New Year's Day, a popular event is held at Chiba Port Tower to watch the first sunrise of the year.
