🗺️ Cloud Library (Tōgen Town Library)雲の上の図書館（梼原町立図書館）

Tōyohara Town is located at the border between Kochi and Ehime. The Cloud Library was established in 2018 with the goal of coexisting with the abundant nature, designed by Kengo Kuma, who is also responsible for the New National Stadium. It is constructed using a large amount of timber from Tōyohara Town and Kochi Prefecture. Inside, there is the "Tōyohara Iroha Wall," which introduces the nature, history, and cultural trajectory of Tōyohara, Kochi, and Japan. The "Library," divided into four small spaces by theme, is filled with a variety of books, and there is also a relaxation area. The unique bookshelves created using the library's space are another highlight. Visitors are required to remove their shoes upon entry, allowing them to enjoy a relaxing moment amidst the fragrant wood and warm atmosphere. The exquisite three-dimensional models produced by the model company Kaiyodo based on the theme are also a must-see. The first-floor space is designed like terraced rice fields, allowing visitors to freely sit and also serving as a stage for events such as lectures or concerts. The library also features a climbing area and a café, providing additional enjoyment beyond reading. Due to the limited frequency of public transportation, it is recommended to drive there.

The library located in Kochi Prefecture was designed by Kengo Kuma. It is constructed using a large amount of timber from Tōyohara Town. To experience the fragrant and warm atmosphere of the wood, visitors are required to take off their shoes upon entering. Inside, there is also a climbing wall and a café. Please note that public transportation has limited schedules, so be especially mindful of that.
