🎨 Attraction Gallery
📝 Introduction
A scenic spot along the coastline extending northeast from Tōjinbō.
📖 Details
A beautiful landscape woven from small islands, known as "Echizen Matsushima" due to its resemblance to Matsushima in Miyagi Prefecture, is a scenic spot recognized as a national natural monument. It is located along the coastline extending northeast from Tojinbo, where the majestic rocks can be glimpsed amidst the tranquil fishing villages.
Like Tojinbo, it features rare columnar basalt formations (columnar joints), as well as unique rock formations named Ogi Rock and Timber Rock, creating a stunning landscape. The entire area is dotted with many beautiful small islands, collectively creating a picturesque harmony. There are several walking trails nearby, including routes that lead to rocky mountains via stone bridges and paths to explore sea-eroded caves, allowing for close-up views of various unique rocks and caves.
The nearby Echizen Matsushima Aquarium offers an experiential environment enjoyable for both adults and children, featuring displays like the "Coral Sea" tank where beautiful tropical fish swim at your feet, dolphin shows, and interactive feeding experiences with the fish. Visitors can appreciate the magnificent scenery of Echizen Matsushima while also getting close to marine life.
