About Eisa Hall
A museum that gathers detailed information about Eisa.
Details
The Eisa Hall is located on Husa Street, facing the entrance of the U.S. military base. It serves as a hub for promoting Okinawa's traditional art form "Eisa" and is dedicated to preserving and passing on the cultural heritage of Eisa. "Eisa" is a traditional ancestral worship activity held during the old Obon Festival period, and every year during this time, young people parade through the region dancing Eisa. Since its inception in 1956, the "Okinawa All-Island Eisa Festival" has attracted 300,000 visitors over three days.
Inside the Eisa Hall, there are displays of books, costumes, and props related to Eisa. Visitors can watch footage of traditional Eisa performances from various locations in Okinawa on large screens within the hall. In the Okinawa All-Island Eisa Festival section, videos of past Eisa festivals can be viewed. Additionally, there is an opportunity to experience authentic Eisa under the guidance of staff (for a fee and by reservation). The hall also sells Eisa-related merchandise and souvenirs, making it the best place to gain a deeper understanding of Eisa.
The welcoming space on the first floor is free to use, while the second floor's exhibition and experience areas require an additional fee. The parking lot is open 24 hours.
