Founded in 1530 by the monk Shōzan, this Shugenja Tendai temple enshrines Fudō Myōō (不動明王). There is a local anecdote that the temple's abbot once practiced asceticism with Fudō Myōō on Mount Ōmine in Nara Prefecture. During Fudō Myōō's absence from Edo, the people fervently prayed, and he flew back from Mount Ōmine to Edo overnight to fulfill their wishes. Since then, he has been revered as "the deity who flies in the sky to protect the people."
By the 1600s, records referred to him as "Hibudōson" (飛不動尊), and today he has become the guardian deity of travelers, especially those in the aviation industry and frequent overseas travelers. Moreover, recently, even drone operators, students praying for success in exams, and professional golfers hoping for a successful shot have come to pay their respects.
Recently, he gained significant fame for blessing Japan's asteroid probe "Hayabusa" (隼鳥) for its safe return. This temple also offers unique amulets that differ from those at other temples, making it a must-visit for travel enthusiasts.
