📝 Introduction
The crimson "Senbon Torii" filled with mysterious beauty presents a magnificent spectacle.
📖 Details
Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of approximately 30,000 Inari shrines across Japan. It is a shrine that blesses abundant harvests, prosperous businesses, family safety, healing from illnesses, and the fulfillment of various wishes, established in the year 711 AD.
The most popular attraction is the "Senbon Torii" (Thousand Torii Gates). Located behind the main shrine, the vermilion torii gates are lined up in a row, forming a tunnel of red gates. These torii gates originated from the offerings of gratitude from worshippers to the deity, and now there are over 10,000 torii gates on the entire Inari Mountain. After passing through the Senbon Torii, there is the Oku Shrine, which features a stone called "Jūkei-ishi" (Heavy-Light Stone). When praying for a wish to come true, if you lift the stone and find it lighter than you expected, your wish will be granted.
If you have more time, it's recommended to take a "Mountain Worship Circuit," which is said to bring even more good fortune. After visiting the main shrine, continue into Inari Mountain, where you will find small shrines related to health, such as those for the eyes and throat. The entire route has an elevation of about 233 meters and is approximately 4 kilometers long, taking about 2 hours to complete.
Throughout the shrine grounds, you can see stone statues of the deity's messenger, the "fox." It is also very interesting to search for various fox shapes within the grounds. At Fushimi Inari Taisha, the ema (votive tablets) for making wishes are also in the shape of foxes, and you can freely draw facial expressions on them, which is quite fun.
