The museum provides a comprehensive introduction to the history of Gifu City from prehistoric times to the modern era. Located south of Gifu Park, it was once the residence of the local Sengoku daimyō Saitō Dōsan and the warlord Oda Nobunaga. Inside the museum, there is a rich collection of exhibits from the Sengoku period, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the lives of Saitō Dōsan and Oda Nobunaga. Among the most popular exhibits is a life-size model replicating the "Rakuichi Rakuza" market from Nobunaga's era. The three-dimensional model "Tenkachōkan-e" recreating Gifu Castle and the streets of Gifu from an aerial perspective is also remarkably realistic. Additionally, the use of VR technology to bring to life the grand residence of Nobunaga is not to be missed. There is also a dedicated area showcasing traditional crafts from Gifu, such as lanterns, umbrellas, and folding fans. The process of creating these traditional crafts is explained in detail through engaging visuals, making it quite interesting. Furthermore, the museum regularly hosts planned exhibitions and special exhibits, ensuring that each visit offers new discoveries.

Getting There
Take a bus towards Nagara Bridge from JR "Gifu" Station or Meitetsu "Meitetsu Gifu" Station for about 15 minutes, and get off at "Gifu Park History Museum Mae" stop. It is about a 5-minute walk from there.
