Details
"Ginzan Onsen" once thrived due to its silver mines. The "Ginzan Tourism Center Taisho Romance Hall," located a bit away from the city center, serves as a sightseeing hub on the way to the hot springs. It features a spacious parking lot that can accommodate large buses, as well as multi-functional restrooms and a lounge, making it a convenient stop for those driving.
Inside, the souvenir shop offers "fried bread" filled with edamame paste or red bean paste, along with exclusive products like "Ginzan no Tsuki," as well as classic Yamagata souvenirs such as "Ginzan Manju" and "Hanaguri Sugar Manju." There is also a restaurant where you can enjoy the famous "authentic handmade soba noodles" from the soba shop Obanazawa, and a tea area where you can take a break with a serving of "seasonal soft serve ice cream." Among these, the curry bread, a specialty of Ginzan, is highly recommended. It is a great place to take a break during your drive or to pick up souvenirs on your way back from Ginzan Onsen.
