About Gozaisho Ropeway
Whether taking the cable car or hiking, you can fully experience the natural beauty of Mount Gozaisho.
Details
The Gozaisho Ropeway connects the "Yunoyama Onsen" station at the foot of Gozaisho Mountain (elevation 400 meters) to the "Summit Park" station (elevation 1180 meters), with a one-way ride taking about 15 minutes. From the cable car, you can enjoy spectacular views of Ise Bay through the windows, and once you reach the mountaintop station, you can dine in the scenic restaurant. The mountaintop park features well-maintained trails that lead to the summit of Gozaisho Mountain at an elevation of 1212 meters. For a more leisurely ascent to the summit, you can also take a single chairlift designed for skiing.
In spring, you can enjoy flowers; in summer, it's a cool retreat with red dragonflies; in autumn, the beautiful foliage; and in winter, you can experience skiing or sledding amidst the scenery of frost-covered trees.
Gozaisho Mountain is home to a peculiar rock formation called Jizo Rock, where a square-shaped rock is perched between two other rocks, seemingly trapped, and is popular during exam periods because it is said to "never fall." There are also large rocks like the 10-meter-tall Daikoku Rock, as well as Takamine Rock and Ebisu Rock, with many unique rock formations and cliffs visible from the mountain's surface.
Walking along the trails, you can find the Asahi Terrace Plaza, which overlooks Ise Bay, the Fujimi Rock Observation Deck, which offers views of Mount Fuji, and the Lake Biwa Viewing Platform, allowing you to enjoy the scenery from various angles.
Highlights
You can easily experience the nature of Mount Gozaisho. There are several observation decks on the mountain where you can enjoy various different views. The temperature on the mountain is lower than at the foot, so it's advisable to bring a jacket. If you plan to hike up the mountain, please wear comfortable walking shoes.
